QORGHAN-TEPPA, August 29, 2013, Asia-Plus – Qorghan-Teppa court sentenced former officer of criminal department of Sarband Police, Nusrat Yadgarov, who was accused of torture and illegal detention.
Abdurahman Yaqubov, the presiding judge, declared while reading the sentence that Nusrat Yadgarov is guilty of torture, according to Article 143, Annotation 1, Part 1 (Torture), and Article 358, Part 1 (illegal detention or detention) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, and sentenced him to 2.5 years imprisonment in general colony.
However, considering the young age of the accused and his marital status, based on Article 71 of the Criminal Code gave Mr. Yadgarov 2 years imprisonment.
