Meteorologists are forecasting heavy precipitation in Tajikistan at the beginning of this week. After a long, dry autumn, the country is finally set to receive some much-needed rain and snow.
According to the Agency for Hydrometeorology (Hydromet), significant rainfall and snowfall are expected on December 8 and 9 in the foothill and mountainous areas of the Sughd province, districts subordinate to the center, and the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
In the capital, Dushanbe, daytime temperatures over the weekend rose to around +15°C. No major temperature fluctuations are expected at the beginning of this week — temperatures is expected to drop only slightly by 2 to 3 degrees.
Snowy and frosty conditions are forecasted in the mountainous regions across most of the country.
