DUSHANBE, May 18, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Water supplies to Dushanbe’s Ismoli Somoni district will be temporarily restricted beginning on May 19.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says water restrictions will affect a section of the Roudaki Avenue from the Bukhoro Street to the Mikhailov Street, as well as the Ismoili Somoni Avenue and the Mirzo Tursunzoda, Shevchenko, Sheroz, Shotemur, Foteh Niyozi, Abdullo Komandir, Mahmadullo Kholov, Loiq Sherali, Ghani Abdullo, Lev Tolstoy, Parvin, Pushkin, Tehran and Nodira streets.
According to him, the temporary water restrictions result from rehabilitation of high-rate trickling filters at the Fishori water supply substation of the Dushanbe Vodokanal (DVK), the utility in charge of providing water supply and sewerage services to the Dushanbe area.
The Dushanbe municipal government calls on the population to stockpile drinking water for ten days.
Relevant municipal services are charged to take measures to organize delivery of drinking water to residents of the mentioned streets by water tank trucks, the spokesman added.
