DUSHANBE, July 5, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov visited Sughd province on July 3-4 to get acquainted with the process of preparation of the province for celebration of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, according to the prime minister secretariat.
During his stay in northern Tajikistan, the prime minister visited a number of facilities that are expected to be put in commission by September 9 this year. Among them are the Marzich power plant, the 220kV Khujand-Ayni substation, Shahriston Tunnel, the 500kV Sughd substation in Ghonchi district, the Uqobcha entertainment complex in Jabborrasoulov district as well as printing house, Ismoili Somoni Square, swimming pool and fountains in the city of Khujand.
On July 4, Oqilov attended the meeting of the Sughd regional administrators. The meeting discussed preparations for celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, preparedness of the province for autumn-winter 2011-2012 as well as ways to tackle existing social problems.
