DUSHANBE, July 22, 2011, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon today morning departed for Shahrinav and Tursunzoda districts, 46 and some 60 kilometers respectively to the west of Dushanbe.
The source in the government says the main purpose of the visit is for the president to get acquainted with the socioeconomic situation of the districts and pace of reforms carried out in industrial and agrarian sectors of Shahrinav and Tursunzoda.
During his one-day stay in Shahrinav and Tursunzoda, Rahmon will also inaugurate a number of social facilities built in the districts on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence.
President Rahmon has already attended a ceremony of an official opening of a new school in the village of Galabotur, Tursunzoda district. A total cost of this project is 6 million somoni. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Rahmon proposed to rename Galabotur Istiqlol (Independence).
The president is also scheduled to address meetings of administrators of Shahrinav and Tursunzoda.
President’s meetings with representatives of various sectors of the economies of the districts will focus on issues related to providing the food security of the country, the source added.
