DUSHANBE, October 21, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Friday October 21, President Emomali Rahmon received visiting Majlis-e Shoura-ye Eslami (The Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran) Speaker Ali Larijani Dr. Ali Larijani.
According to the presidential press service, the sides discussed multi-aspect cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
Tajik leader reported expressed satisfaction with introduction of the first unit of the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) into operation and stressed that Tajikistan was sure that Iran would participate in implementation of the hydroelectricity projects in Tajikistan.
The sides noted that the parliaments of the two countries could promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran through adopting appropriate laws.
Rahmon and Larijani reportedly also discussed ways of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan.
The sides also considered international and regional issues being of mutual interest, the source said.
We will recall that Dr. Ali Larijani heading Iranian parliamentary delegation arrived in Dushanbe for a two-day visit Thursday afternoon. On arrival in Dushanbe, Dr. Larijani held talks with the Majlisi Namoyandagon Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov.
Today, Mr. Larijani is also scheduled to hold talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi. Besides, Iranian parliament speaker is also meeting with teachers and students at Tajik National University today. He is also visiting Tajik State Medical University today, where he will familiarize himself with activity of the Iranian Room. During his stay in Dushanbe, Dr. Larijani will also visit the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Local History Museum named after Kamoliddin Behzod and the Museum of Antiquities.
