DUSHANBE, October 31, 2011, Asia-Plus -- By president’s decree Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidov, has been simultaneously appointed Tajik President’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, the Tajik MFA information department reports.
This position has reportedly been created in connection with the fact that Tajikistan is actively participating in seeking solution to the problems facing Afghanistan, calling on international community to support more actively economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Tajikistan is one of initiators and permanent participants of international and regional conferences on Afghanistan. Tajik delegation will attend the upcoming Conference for Security and Cooperation in the Heart of Asia in Istanbul on November 2 and the International Afghanistan Conference in Bonn on December 5, the source said.
Experience of countries cooperating with Afghanistan has shown that implementation of programs and achievement of certain goals require existence of the position of the special representative for Afghanistan’s affairs.
We will recall that a working group for Afghanistan now functions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
