DUSHANBE, January 4, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- On Wednesday January 4, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao exchanged greeting messages on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their countries, the Tajik presidential press service reports.

In his message, Tajik leader, in particular, noted that the agreement between Tajikistan and China on neighborliness, friendship and cooperation signed in Beijing in 2007 determined the long-term foundation of wide cooperation and interaction between the two countries.

“Today’s relations between our countries are a worthy example of successful cooperation and interaction of great power with its neighbor.  They are notable for high level of confidence in each other, similar conceptual approach to a broad range of international problems, respect for diversity of cultures and desire for joint development,” the message said.

The message also notes that large-scale infrastructure development projects are being implemented in Tajikistan due to support of China, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is expanding.

For his part, Chinese President Hu Jintao expressed the best wishes to the Tajik leader and the Tajik people.  In his message, Hu noted that China has amicable ties with Tajikistan and it will continue supporting Tajikistan in the future as well.
