DUSHANBE, February 20, 2012, Asia-Plus -- An enlarged meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office, presided over by Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, took place on February 20 to discuss the implementation of municipal redevelopment plan that includes rehabilitation of the protocol parts of the Ayni and Roudaki streets.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says the meeting participants included directors of Dushanbe’s design institutes and citizens whose homes and property are liable to demolition under the municipal redevelopment plan.
We will recall that under Dushanbe’s municipal redevelopment plan, dozens of old houses will be destroyed in the city in preparation for the construction of modern buildings. The plan affects hundreds of residents.
“The mayor once more carried out an explanatory conversation with citizens whose homes and property are liable to demolition and assured them that their rights will be protected,” said the spokesman, “Ubaidulloyev ordered relevant municipal agencies to take into account interests and wishes of dwellers while implementing the municipal redevelopment plan.”
The mayor noted that implementation of the municipal redevelopment plan on the protocol parts of the Roudaki and Ayni streets must be completed no later than September 2013, Saidov added.
