Today President Emomali Rahmon visited Tavildara region which suffered most as a result of May 13 earthquake.
In the course of his visit President Rahmon was informed about the consequences of the disaster and met with the local population, a source in the Government told AP.
President said that the Government undertakes extra measures to provide related assistance to residents of disaster-affected regions of Rasht Valley.
“According to information provided to head of state, the earthquake has totally destroyed 105 houses and caused serious damage to another 155 in Tavildara region. In Rasht region 8 houses were destroyed and 16 damaged,” the source reported.
According to Tajik Emergency and Civil Defense Committee’s previous report, earthquake caused damage to more than 100 houses in Tavildara region, of which 50 were totally destroyed.
