DUSHANBE, December 19, 2013, Asia-Plus -- According to the statistical data from the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan, a total of some 910,000 people have migrated out of Tajikistan over the first eleven months of this year, 13.7% more compared to the same period last year, while 683,000 people have returned to Tajikistan over the same eleven-month period, the report for December 2013, Monitoring and Early Warning in Tajikistan , says.
Despite a growing trend in general labor migration, after reaching its peak in March-April monthly labor migration is gradually decreasing.
In November, there were 38,000 migrants recorded, 29% less than in October, 2013, according to the report.
Labor migrants remain a critical component in the economy of Tajikistan. Remittances keep many struggling families at home above the poverty line.
