DUSHANBE, February 4, 2014, Asia-Plus -- In 2013, Tajikistan’s electricity exports totaled some 970 million kWh (33.6 million USD), according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Afghanistan reportedly accounted for 99.2 percent of Tajikistan’s electricity exports and Kyrgyzstan accounted for 0.8 percent.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan imported only 21 million kWh of electricity (211,000 USD) last year.  Tajikistan reportedly imported electric power in early spring.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources says that Tajikistan’s total electricity generation in 2013 was more than 17 billion kWh.

Actual technical losses in the country’s energy sector last year reportedly amounted to more than 2.5 billion kWh, which is nearly 15 percent of the overall volume of electricity generated in 2013 and 0.5 percent more compared to 2012.
