DUSHANBE, February 21, 2014, Asia-Plus - Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, has resumed flights to the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek after a  23-day interruption, the Tajik Air press center reported on February 21.

As usual, Tajik Air will operate the once-weekly service to Bishkek on Wednesdays, the source said.

Tajik Air representatives refrained from telling the reason for suspicion of the Dushanbe-Bishkek flight.

Meanwhile, a reliable source in the Tajik government says that the flight was suspended due to problems Tajik nationals faced at Manas International Airport in Bishkek on January 29.

Kyrgyz air carrier, Avia Traffic Company, has not suspended flights from Bishkek to Dushanbe; but it has reduced the number of the flights from two to one a week.  Kyrgyz air company says it reduced the number of flights because of decrease in passenger traffic.

 Avia Traffic Company is an airline with its head office in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Its flights operate from Manas International Airport.  The airline is reportedly on the List of air carriers banned in the European Union.

Tajik Air (Tajikistan Airlines) is the national airline of Tajikistan.  The airline has its main hub at the Dushanbe airport, and it retains a secondary focus point at the Khujand airport.  The company started operations on September 3, 1924 as Tajik Aviation. Its first route was Bukhara to Dushanbe, served by Junkers F-13 aircraft.  It is the sixth oldest airline still in operation.

Tajik Air now serves the following destinations: China (Urumqi); Iran (Tehran, Mashhad); Kazakhstan (Almaty); Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek); Russia (Irkutsk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, St Petersburg, Samara, Sochi, Surgut, and Yekaterinburg); Tajikistan (Khorog and Khujand); and United Arab Emirates (Sharjah).
