DUSHANBE, March 17, 2014, Asia-Plus – In January-February 2014, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 1.4 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 290 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to the same period of last year the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 109 percent.

Processing industry has reportedly accounted for 61.6 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the first two months of this year, enterprises producing and distributing electrical power, natural gas and water have accounted for 27.3 percent and mining industry has accounted for 11.1 percent.

Of 1,090 industrial enterprises registered in the country 443 enterprises have exceeded the January-February 2013 production level and 448 industrial enterprises have not been operation over the report period.  

Of the 90 basic types of industrial products the output of 40 has increased, and the output of 34 items has decreased over the same two-month period.  Sixteen basic types of industrial products have not been manufactured.
