DUSHANBE, May 2, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan and South Korea have reportedly come to an agreement on launching direct air communication between Dushanbe and Seoul.
According to South Korea’s Embassy in Dushanbe, two-day negotiations that concluded here on Aril 29 resulted in signing of an initial agreement on air communication.
The document was reportedly inked by Ismoil Jobbirov, the head of the Civil Aviation Department, the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and Lee Jin Chyul (phonetically spelled), the head of the Office of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs of South Korea.
It is still a matter of twice weekly service under a code-sharing agreement.
A codeshare agreement, sometimes simply codeshare, is an aviation business arrangement where two or more airlines share the same flight. A seat can be purchased on one airline but is actually operated by a cooperating airline under a different flight number or code.
Under a code sharing agreement, the airline that actually operates the flight (the one providing the plane, the crew and the ground handling services) is called the operating carrier. The company or companies that sell tickets for that flight but do not actually operate it are called marketing carriers.
