DUSHANBE, May 14, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Two Belarusian farming machinery manufacturers – Minsk Tractor Works and BobruiskAgroMash – intend to launch assembly plants in Tajikistan.

In a statement delivered at the Tajik-Belarusian business forum in Dushanbe, Belarusian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Olga Gavruk, revealed on May 13 that a joint venture for assembling four-wheeled tractors of model MTZ, known as Belarus, will be established in Danghara Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Khatlon province.

According to her, an estimated budget for this project that will be implemented by Tajiktekstilmash is some 15 million U.S. dollars.

Specialists from Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) have repeatedly visited Tajikistan to discuss the issues of launching the joint venture for assembling four-wheeled tractors here.

“In the future, if the joint venture operates well, tractors assembled in Tajikistan will be exported to Afghanistan and Pakistan,” Ambassador Gavruk noted.

Besides, BobruiskAgroMash, which is the main producer of mixer feeders in Belarus, is expected to organize assembly of farming machines, including traction-type equipment, in the Hisor district.  A total cost of this project is 5 million U.S. dollars.

“All necessary documents have already been prepared and there is foreign investor to finance this project, but the main problem is to get plot of land in Hisor for implementation of this project,” said Belarusian diplomat.  “If the land allocation issue is solved positively, the enterprise will be introduced into operation in a year.”

Belarus also plans to launch a joint venture in Tajikistan for assembling power transformers.

Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) is a major industrial enterprise in Minsk.  It is a part of the association "Industrial Association "Minsk Tractor Works" (POMTZ).  In addition to the main plant in Minsk, the association includes a number of plants that produce parts and attachable tools for tractors and other vehicles produced by MTZ.

The plant manufactures over 62 models of vehicles.  Its main civil production has been four-wheeled tractors of model MTZ, known as Belarus.

Open Joint-tock Company (OJSC) BobruiskAgroMash is the main producer of mixer feeders in Belarus.
