DUSHANBE, October 26, Asia-Plus -- The autumn conscription campaign has reached 60 percent of the target to date, which is considered a good result, especially with more than a month remaining in the campaign, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
The MoD source noted that in the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached are: Gorno Badakhshan – 88; Khatlon – 60; Sughd – 59; districts subordinate to the center (RRP) – 54 and Dushanbe – 50.
The autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November 2006, the presidential press service reported. The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
According to the MoD, some 6,000 conscripts are expected to be drafted into the army during the autumn conscription campaign.
