KHOROG, October 25, Asia-Plus -- The construction of a new hydropower plant has begun in the village of Bardara in the Rushan district of Gorno Badakhshan.
According to the Mountain Societies Development Support Program (MSDSP) supported by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), the estimated budget for the construction of power plant in Bardara is US$107,000. “Of this amount, US$100,000 will be provided by MSDSP and the remaining amount will be contribution of the village community,” the MSDSP source said.
Razzoq Davronshoyev, a manager of the PamirEnergy company in Rushan, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the equipment for the Bardara small power plant had been delivered from China. “The plant’s capacity will be 160 kW,” said Davronshoyev, “It will be the most powerful of 14 small power plants that have been constructed in Rushan so far.”
