KULOB, May 27, Asia-Plus - Weeds grew spread to at least 200 hectares of cotton fields in the Hamadoni district of the Khatlon province, impeding growth of cotton.
Rajabali Kulabekov, chief agronomist with the Kulob Agriculture Department, has told Asia-Plus that spread of weeds resulted from an acute shortage of fuel for properly cultivating the cotton fields in the district.
“For shortage of fuel, farmers in the Hamadoni district have managed to properly cultivated only 4,400 hectares of 7,930 hectares lands in the district sown with cotton,” Mr. Kulabekov said.
Hamadoni district tops Kulob area in silkworm breeding
KULOB, May 27, Asia-Plus /Turko Dikayev/ -- The Hamadoni district that has produced so far 49.5 tons of the planned 85 tons of cocoons tops the Kulob area of the Khatlon province in silkworm breeding.
According to information from the Kulob Agriculture Administration, silkworm breeders in the Farkhor district have also reached 50 percent of their target on production of cocoons.
In total, silkworm breeders in the Kulob area have produced 163.2 tons of cocoons as of May 26. The Kulob area has pledged to produce 468.2 tons of cocoons this year.
