DUSHANBE, July 21, 2208, Asia-Plus  -- The USAID-funded Community Connections Program provides an important opportunity for the American people and people from across Central Asia to work together to address common professional challenges while expanding their social and cultural understanding, press release issued by the US Embassy in Dushanbe said. 

As business and professional communities of both countries become more integrated, opportunities for positive relations between the American people and the people from Central Asia become increasingly important.

This program offers home stay-based, three-week practical training opportunities in the United States.  Participants will observe library management practices in the United States and interact closely with library professionals to share knowledge and practices.  The competition is open to library leading experts and managers working in national libraries in Tajikistan.  Employees of the Ministry of Culture supervising the Tajik library sector are also welcome to apply.

The professional group will travel to the U.S. in October 2008.  Candidates should have leadership potential in the library management field and live and work in Tajikistan.  Preference will be given to candidates that run and manage national libraries of Tajikistan. English language is not required for this program. 

The deadline for the application forms it not later than August 4, 2008.
