DUSHANBE, November 11, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Saidmurod Domulloyev, Director of the Museum of Ethnography and Archeology, Sherali Khojayev, Lead Specialist at the Historical Heritage Protection Department within the Ministry of Culture (MoC), represented Tajikistan at the UNESCO Regional Workshop on the Silk Road World Heritage serial nomination that was held in China on November 1-7.
The source at a MoC said that representatives from 19 countries of the world had attended the workshop that had been organized to discuss properties along the Silk Road to the World Heritage List.
The workshop participants seconded once again the tentative list. The following historical relics of Tajikistan were submitted to the list: Neolithic Settlement Sarazm (Zarafshon); the Site of the Ancient Town of Bunjikat (Panjakent); the Hissar Fortress (Hissar); the Yamgun Fortress (Gorno Badakhshan); the Buddhist Cloister of Ajina-Teppa (Vakhsh); Takhti Sangin (Qubodiyon); and Hulbuk (Vose).
The final World Heritage List for the Central Asian region will be considered at the 34th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee that is expected to take place in 2010.
