KHOROG, March 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- Outdoor festivities dedicated to the Navrouz Holiday are taking place at the central square of Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan today.

The festivities are organized by Khorog State University.  Addressing those present, Vice-Chancellor of Khorog State University, Imomyorbek Qalandarbekov noted, “Navrouz is the most beautiful and desired festival.  That is why administration and students’ council of the University have decided to celebrate it together with all dwellers of the city.”

He also noted that the GBAO governor on March 18 received a number of students from vulnerable families and gave 50 of them extraordinary grants of 100 somoni for good studying.  10 other students received 50 somoni each from the university administration, the vice-chancellor said.

Students also organized an exhibition of handicrafts and sports activities on occasion of the Navrouz Holiday.
