DUSHANBE, August 25, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Embassy of Tajikistan in Austria, the Bukharian Jewish Community of Vienna and representatives of Tajik Community leaving in Austria yesterday organized a joint commemoration meeting to honor the late People’s Artist of Tajikistan and the Roudaki State Award Laureate, Ms. Shoista Mullojonova, according to the Tajik embassy in Vienna.
Shoista Mullojonova was an unsurpassed performer of Tajik classic and popular songs and works by Tajik composers. Indeed, she had a unique singing voice with a broad range and rare strength of a lyrical soprano.
She was fond of national masterpieces of "Shashmaqom" classical music, as well as European opera performances. All this placed her in an inviolable part of the modern history of Tajik professional musical art.
Addressing the audience, Ambassador Nuriddin Shamsov conveyed condolences to the family of late Shoista Mullojonova on behalf of Government of Tajikistan deep. He noted that Shoista Mullojonova had played a key role in development of modern culture of Tajikistan and made significant contribution to the preservation and further development national traditions of Tajik music.
At the end of the commemorative meeting a documentary dedicated to the life and incredible talent of Shoista Mullojonova in Tajikistan and USA was shown.
