DUSHANBE, July 4, 2011, Asia-Plus -- People’s Poet of Tajikistan Shirin Bunyod (Khoushqadam Qurbonmamadov), 70, died in Khorog, Gorno Badakhshan on July 3, Tajik Writers’ Union reports.
Shirin Bunyod made a major contribution to development of Tajik poetry of the end of 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
Born in Roshtqala district of Gorno Badakhshan in 1941, Shirin Bunyod received his early education in Gorno Badakhshan before graduating in 1973 from Tajik National University. Over the last twenty year, Shirin Bunyod had headed the Tajik Writers’ Union (TWI)’ office in Gorno Badakhshan.
Several collections of works by Shirin Bunyod has been published in Tajikistan. Among them are “Bomdod,” “Zartoj,” “Shohi Tirandoz,” “Sherozii Vahdat,” “Posi Khotir,” etc. Shirin Bunyod’s works have been translated into many languages.
