DUSHANBE, October 18, 2011, Asia-Plus – Construction of a bell turret at the chapel within compound of Russian military base in Dushanbe has started.
Dmitry Matushkin, an assistant to the commander of the Russian military base in Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon that seven bells with a total weight of more than 300 kilograms will be installed. According to him, the bell turret is expected to be finished by the end of October.
“The base servicemen themselves will serve as bell-ringers,” said Matushkin, “Priest Roman Chebonenko, who is an assistant to the base commander for work with religious servicemen is instructing servicemen having ear of music in bell-ringing.”
The Metropolitan of Tashkent and Central Asia Vikentiy is expected to arrive in Dushanbe to consecrate the bell turret.
