According to information from the “Project Site of Tajikistan”, presentation of which was held on sidelines of the meeting, experts from various regions of the republic gave papers at the meeting on types of projects in the regions and
Participants at the meeting also discussed project activities of the non-government organizations in
Rukhshona Sohibnazarova, an expert with the “Project Site of Tajikistan” organization also coordinator of youth and volunteers programs of
Ms. Sohibnazarova noted that to date, more than 2000 NGOS have been registered in the republic. “Various projects implemented by local NGOs remain uncompleted and they stopped their activities,” she said, adding that many of them are duplicating functions of each other. “Besides, implementation of regional projects remains undeveloped,” Sohibnazarova noted. She said: “It is necessary provide institutional development of NGOs and solution of problems at regional level while priority should be given to communicative, analytical, and integration projects as well as the projects being implemented in cooperation with the government, jamoats, etc.”
Representatives from the U.S. Embassy, local NGOs, international organizations active in the republic and media took part in the meeting’s work.
