QURGHON TEPPA, February 16, Asia-Plus - 50 percent of public associations registered in Khatlon province are not working for lack of grants and funds, while number of them in the province is increasing year out, Saodat Amirshoyeva, head of the Khatlon Justice Administration, announced at a news conference in Qurghon Teppa on Wednesday [February 15]. 

According to her, of 370 public associations registered in Khatlon, 61 were registered with justice administration in 2005 alone.  

“Since the beginning of the year, 11 other public associations have already been registered in the province,” Ms. Amirshoyeva said, noting that many of them submit applications for registration without settling elementary issues, in particular place of location.  

Many of the public associations registered in Khatlon have violated requirements of the country’s legislation, engaging in entrepreneurial activity while the public associations are non-profit organizations, according to the Khatlon justice administration head.  She stressed that in case of changing their mission the public associations should re-register their documents at the justice administration.
