Tajik, Chinese friendship societies sign long-term cooperation agreement

DUSHANBE
, February 24, Asia-Plus - On Thursday February 23, Tajik and Chinese friendship societies signed in
Beijing
a document on a long-term cooperation program designed for 2006-2010.
According to information from
Tajikistan
’s Society for Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries, the Society’s chairperson Maysara Kalonova signed the document on behalf of
Tajikistan
.
The source says the program is a foundation for further expansion of cultural-humanitarian cooperation between
Tajikistan
and
China
. “The agreement provides for holding of various exhibitions, mutual travels of artistic groups and representatives from arts and science and entrepreneurs,” the source said, adding that now there has become possible exchange of literatures and other information materials, participation at scientific conferences and symposiums, holding of days of culture as well as sports and youth events.
The Asia-Plus interlocutor has noted that before that
Tajikistan
had such an agreement with
China
’s Xinjiang-Uighur autonomous region.
