Role of NGOs in expansion of humanitarian cooperation in post-Soviet area to be discussed in Dushanbe next week

, April 4, Asia-Plus -- A roundtable meeting formally titled “Role of NGOs in Expansion of Humanitarian Cooperation in Post Soviet Area” will be held at the Tajik Dramatic Lohuti Theatre in
Dushanbe
on April 12.
The event is held for the purpose of promoting further expansion of cooperation between Tajik and Russian non-government organizations implementing humanitarian project.
According to information from the Russian Embassy in
Dushanbe
, the other purpose of this roundtable meeting is in combing efforts of Tajik and Russian NGOs to coordinate activities aimed at implementation of the humanitarian cooperation agreement between the CIS states that was signed in
Kazan
(
Russia
) in August 2005.
The meeting participants include representatives from Russian MFA, “Rodina” Association,
Tajikistan
’s Ministry of Culture, Public Council, NGO “
Tajikistan
’s Women Scientists”, “Tajikistan-Russia” Friendship Society, NGOs dealing with humanitarian cooperation issues as well as lecturers with Tajik higher educational institutions.
The meeting is supposed to result in adoption of recommendations to Russian and Tajik government, public, and scientific organizations on expansion of humanitarian cooperation.
