DUSAHNBE, June 16, Asia-Plus -- An international conference to discuss issues of combating trafficking in persons is supposed to be held in Dushanbe on September 15-17, according to information from president’s executive office.
The main objective of the conference is in making contribution to the fight against human trafficking as well as support trafficking victims, strengthening opportunities of targeted groups comprising representatives from the government bodies and civil society on use of international experience, the source said.
During three days participants at the conference will consider issues of working out strategic approaches and strengthening ties, studying methods of fight against human trafficking, scales, causes and instruments available for preventing human trafficking in Tajikistan.
“The conference will give an opportunity for sharing experience and expanding cooperation between state bodies and organizations of civil society dealing with this problem, as well as working out strategic approaches in tackling this problem and mechanisms of return of victims of human trafficking home,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.
The conference is expected to bring together representatives from the government bodies and NGOs dealing with this problems, international experts from Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia, as well as representatives from the United Nations and donors.
Organizers of this conference are Tajikistan’s inter-agency commission for combating human trafficking and NGO “Modar”. The conference is staged under financial support of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).
