DUSHANBE, September 4, Asia-Plus -- Weddings for 250 pairs will be held at the central square of Dushanbe today afternoon.  

Weddings for these 250 couples from vulnerable families is arranged under support of Iran’s Imdod Committee and Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Security on an initiative of President Emomali Rahmonov.     

The wedding ceremonies for these 250 couples will be held at the “Kokhi Vahdat” State Complex at 2:00 p.m.  Tajik Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Khayrinisso Mavlonova, and visiting Director General of Iran’s Imdod Committee, Said Reza Nayeri, will congratulate the newly-married couples. 

After that, 250 newly-married couples and their relatives will go on foot to the “Dusti” Square, where they will lay flowers at the Ismoili Somoni monument.  President Emomali Rahmonov is expected to congratulate the couples.  A concert with participation of Tajik and Iranian artistes will be held on the “Dusti” Square today evening.  

According to Mr. Said Hamid Azimi, the head of Imdod Committee Tajik Office, the couples to be married today are residents of four districts in Dushanbe.  He added that they had already arranged such weddings in other regions of Tajikistan as well.  

The head of the Imdod Committee’s Office in Tajikistan noted that first of all, young people from single-parent families and families having many children may count on such help.  “Selection of candidates has been conducted in cooperation with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Security,” Said Hamid Azimi said.  Besides assistance in arranging wedding ceremonies, the Imdod Committee also will provide the couples with refrigerators, sowing and washing machines, as well as kitchen supplies, according to him.  

By the end of this year, it is planned to arrange weddings for other 250 couples from various regions of the country.
