DUSHANBE, September 26, Asia-Plus - A ceremony of presentation of an office of the Center for Legal Education will be held in Dushanbe on September 29.
The Center is a non-government, non-profit, educational and informational-analytical organization, established with support of the OSCE Center in Dushanbe and the UNDP Country Office in Tajikistan. The founders of the Center are Tajik Lawyers’ Association, the Board of Tajik Bar and international firm “Contract”, according to the source.
“The main objective of the Center is to promote development of democratic reforms, raising legal awareness among the population, conduct training for raising professionalism of judges, lawyers and prosecutors, as well as provide legal information and legal assistance,” the Center source said.
The partners of the Center are the Ministry of Justice, Council of Judges, Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, Higher Economic Court, Tajik Barristers’ Association, UNTOP and a number of NGOs. The Center director is Vatan Abdurrahmonov.
According to the source, during 2003-2006 the Center published a series of articles and methodical supplies on legal disciplines and arranged training for judges and lawyers on different subjects.
