DUSHANBE, October 23, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday October 19, the Embassy of Japan signed the grant contracts awarded under the auspices of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Projects with four education, health and social projects.
A grant of US$84,280 is provided to the Muminobod education department to rehabilitate school # 1 in the settlement of Muminobod.
Hospital in the Navobod jamoat of the Rasht district has received US$84,483 to implement the “The Rehabilitation of Navobod Hospital in Rasht District” project.
The Fayzobod district has received a grant of US$83,889 for rehabilitating irrigation canals in Buston and Mehrobod jamoats.
A grant of US$22,775 has been provided to implement the “The Transport of Firefighting Trucks to the Dushanbe City Specialized Area Fire Station of the Fire Defense Agency” project.
The total amount of grants for the four projects signed last Thursday is US$ 275,427.
The Grassroots Human Security Grant Aid (Small Grants) is a scheme whereby up to Yen 10,000,000 (equivalent to US$85,000) per project can be granted to cover the costs for the procurement or construction to be used for the improvement of social environments in Tajikistan.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Projects, the Government of Japan has extended to the total grant of US$ 10,878,688 for 182 projects to support a variety of humanitarian and development activities through local governments, international and local NGOs in Tajikistan since 1996.
