DUSHANBE, June 8, Asia-Plus - The next meeting of the Social Partnership Club is being held in Dushanbe today.

Mavlon Mukhtorov, coordinator secretary, Tajikistan’s Public Council, told Asia-Plus the meeting is aiming to consider issues related to Tajik General Peace Agreement and it is significance for further development of Tajikistan and Tajik society.  

According to him, the event participants include Karomatullo Olimov, State Adviser to the President of Tajikistan for Social Development and Public Relations, Taghoy Rahmonov and Abdunabi Sattorzoda, former members of Tajik National Reconciliation Commission, as well as representatives from international organizations and NGOs.  

The Public Council of Tajikistan was established in 1996.  Pro-government political parties and NGOs singed the Public Accord Agreement in a show of support for the ongoing peace process in the country.  Later, signatories to the 1996 Public Accord Agreement renewed that document and representatives of other political parties signed the accord agreement. 

The Public Council members now include political parties, public associations, ethnic communities and a number of NGOs.
