DUSHANBE, November 28, Asia-Plus - A ceremony of handover of medical equipment to the central hospital of the main border troops directorate of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) was held in Dushanbe today morning, press service of the main border troops directorate said.
The project was implemented under the Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Projects. Grant provided for the project by the Government of Japan is $81,730.
According to press release issued by the Japanese Embassy in Dushanbe, with this project the Japanese government provided one ultrasound machine, one defibrillator, surgical kits, one mobile X-ray and one echo encephalograph to the GKNB hospital. These equipments are expected to save number of patients who are suffering from lack of equipment and who are transferred from rural area to Dushanbe.
Japanese Ambassador to Tajikistan Mr. Tsutomu Hiraoka, senior representatives from GKNB and media attended the handover ceremony.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Projects, the Government of Japan has extended to the total grant of US$ 12,542,079 for 201 projects to support a variety of humanitarian and development activities in the Republic of Tajikistan since 1996.
