DUSHANBE, October 7, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A three-day training seminar formally titled “Tajikistan’s Legislation on Copyright and Digital Technologies” was launched in the Varzob resort Khoja Obi Garm on October 7.
The seminar is staged by the public foundation Civil Initiative on Internet Policy under financial support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan) and the Ministry of Culture (MoC).
According to OSI/AF-Tajikistan, the seminar participants include more than 20 specialists in the field of legislation on protection of copyright and neighboring rights from the parliament, ministries, committees, and other organizations
The source at OSI/AF-Tajikistan said that the main objective of the seminar is to raise its participants’ awareness of the copyright and digital technologies issues. They are discussing the most topical problems of the right to the intellectual property that are facing authors of objects of intellectual property in their real and virtual activities.
During three days, Tajik trainers will conduct discussions in terms of Tajikistan’s legislation on copyright and international obligations for the country’s admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
