DUSHANBE, March 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Five schools students are representing Tajikistan at the 3rd Children’s World Water Forum (CWWF) that kicked off in Istanbul, Turkey on March 12.

The forum runs through March 16 and on March 17, they will have an opportunity to participate at the elective session of the 5th World Water Forum that will be held in Istanbul from March 16-22, Ms. Muhabbat Kamarova, national adviser to the OSCE Office in Tajikistan for environmental protection matters, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“Four of them – Farzona Saidzoda (School # 21,Dushanbe), Farhod Tohirzod (School # 53, Dushanbe), Behrouz Rahimov (Norak), and Mahina Khairullo (Hotam&PV Lyceum, Dushanbe) -- are members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the fifth one is an activist of the Youth Movement, Green Patrol, Daler Rahimov (School # 21, Dushanbe),” Kamarova said.

The Children’s World Water Forum gives participants a chance to share their experiences, discuss solutions and present their action plan to government ministers.          

The Children’s World Water Forum tradition was established in Kyoto at the 3rd World Water Forum, where some 109 children, from 32 countries participated, deliberated, and acted on issues of great importance to children’s wellbeing worldwide. At the 2nd CWWF at the 4th World Water Forum in Mexico, 107 children from 29 countries shared 55 local actions to help in the solution-finding of water-related issues, and participated in workshops and educational activities.
