DUSHANBE, March 30, Asia-Plus  -- On March 28-29, Tajik Legal Consortium (TLC) conducted a two-day master-class for lawyers and representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Dushanbe on strategy and features of protecting right and interests of entrepreneurs in economic courts of Tajikistan.

According to the TLC chairman Rahmatillo Zoirov, the goal of the seminar was to raise legal awareness of entrepreneurs and improve professionalism of lawyers representing them in courts.

“It is especially important under conditions of pressure various structures, including state institutions, make on entrepreneurs,” said the TLC head, “Ineffective operation and application of laws and strong pressure made on entrepreneurs require them to establish closer cooperation with human rights organizations, media and judicial bodies.”  Issues related to establishment of such contacts were considered at the master-class.  Joint efforts to provide the supremacy of law and efficient application of laws are among important conditions for settlement of commercial disputes, Zoirov said.

Tajik Legal Consortium has implemented the SMEs development support program since June 2007.
