DUSHANBE, October 29, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A ceremony of handover of prophylactic goods to medical facilities of Dushanbe and districts subordinate to the center was held at the Republican Center for Purchase of Medical Goods and Equipment in Dushanbe on October 28, according to the UNDP CO in Tajikistan.
The prophylactic goods donated to the medical facilities included 1.5 million disposable syringes. 15. million spirit tissues as well as containers for collection and utilization of disposable syringes and gloves that had been purchased under the UNDP HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care Program sponsored by the Global Fund.
This donation is part of the campaign, Protecting Medical Workers against HIV Infection, carried out in all regions of the country on an initiative of the Ministry of Health and National Coordination Committee to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the source said.
This campaign also included holding of training for senior representatives of institutions of the country’s public health on universal prophylaxis measures in medical facilities, as well as development and dissemination of informational materials.
