A Cleveland judge today set bond at $1 million for the man charged in connection with the shooting of a man at a gas station.
Prosecutors had asked for a US $500.000 bond for 18-year-old William J. Neal.
Neal is charged with felonious assault in connection with the shooting of 49-year-old Fazliddin Yakubov on June 20 at a gas station on Superior. Yakubov was waiting at the pumps while his son paid for gas, reported WKYC.com.
Surveillance tape captured the shooting and helped police in their investigation. Police say they have identified the other people in the tape and still want to interview them as part of their investigation.
Police say there was not enough evidence to pursue the investigation as a hate crime.
Yakubov moved to the U.S. from his native Uzbekistan. He is recovering in a Cleveland hospital and is listed in fair condition.
