President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on August 27.
Both presidents arrived in Dushanbe to attend the summit of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The Uzbek agency said that the presidents noted that the current negotiations are good opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The leaders of two states praised current level of cooperation. During the talks, they exchanged opinion on further development of relations in politics, economy and humanitarian spheres, cooperation within the SCO and other international and regional issues of mutual interest.
The trade-economic relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are developing intensively. Trade turnover between countries comprised US$1.2 billion in 2007 and US$650.3 million in January-May 2008.
