President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev on Sunday met with the United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who arrived in Kazakhstan on a short working visit.
International and regional situation were discussed in a meeting, reported President’s press service. In the center of this meeting were the questions of Afghan situation normalization, stabilization in Iraq, and regulation of Caucasian conflict.
Also the important topic of the discussion was the aspects of Central Asian region development.
The sides exchanged views concerning the current American-Russian relationships that are the main factor of the world security.
During discussion of American-Russian relationships it was mentioned that they are multidimensional and have positive dynamics of development. At the present time Kazakhstan expects that the American business will invest money not only in the oil and gas production but also in agricultural, telecommunication, and transport industries.
The Kazakh President thanked the United States of America for their support of Kazakhstan candidacy for OSCE chairmanship in 2010.
At the end of the meeting the two sides reiterated their readiness to intensify development and expansion of commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian relationships between two countries.
