“Kyrgyzstan needs extra measures to neutralize impact of the world financial crisis, and we are ready to take them,” the President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiev told reporters at the airport on arrival from Osh, where his board landed due to heavy fog in Bishkek.
“The current developments are not sudden for us. While in Europe, I have witnessed the crisis impact and authorities’ efforts to tackle it. It first started as financial and later grew into an economical crisis, which may influence those countries with shaky financial systems. As a former chair of the CIS I have not once mentioned that the crisis will touch every country without exception,” said the president.
“Today news from the world markets rather remind war reports. The IMF and other international institutions have made amendments to the world economy development prospects. The G20 leaders in Washington decided to renew the world financial system reforms, to prevent a negative scenario. We all have hard and time-consuming work ahead,” the head of state said.
“Since 2007 Kyrgyzstan implements a reform project to minimize negative effect of current financial-economical situation, but now some extra measures need to be taken, and we are ready for it,” Bakiev said and noted that his meeting with the Premier Igor Chudinov is scheduled for today.
