Russian minister of agriculture Alexei Gordeev met with Turkmenistan''s agriculture minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev on 20 December, the press service of Russia''s agriculture ministry said.
The ministers discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in supplies of farm equipment, seeds, fertilizers and crop protection substances, as well as the preparation of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in agriculture between the ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation and the ministry of agriculture of Turkmenistan. According to Alexei Gordeev, this memorandum will be signed in the near future.
Turkmenistan is interested in further imports of farm equipment and winter crops from the Russian Federation that demonstrated good results during tests, Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev said. At the same time, Turkmenistan and Russia are ready to discuss prospects of trade in fertilizers, the press service said.
