Japan government allocated US$4.4 million to the project "Improvement of equipment for National Center of Rehabilitation and Prosthesis of disabled people".
Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Minister of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev and Japan Ambassador to Uzbekistan Tsutomu Hiraoka signed exchange note on the project on 19 February. After that, Mr Ganiev and head of JICA office in Uzbekistan Yukihiko Ejiri signed a grant agreement for US$4.4 million.
Japan Ambassador to Uzbekistan Tsutomu Hiraoka said the signing ceremony is another symbol of friendship between Japan and Uzbekistan. He said Japan helps Uzbekistan to improve education system to further transformation to market economy.
Japan allocated yen credits to Uzbekistan for US$975 million and no-string aid for US$194 million soums, as well as technical assistance for US$90 million.
Japanese envoy said activity of the National Center of Rehabilitation and Prosthesis of disabled people is directed to rehabilitation of disabled people in Uzbekistan and carry out orthopaedic surgery operations. He said the center is aimed at treating disabled people and return to normal life of the society.
He said new equipment will help the center to improve diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of the disabled people. He said the center will receive synthetic training equipment, biochemical analysis equipment, surgery tables, monitoring equipment, etc.
