The Kyrgyz National Bank announced its decision to start issuing 5,000 som banknotes at the news conference in Bishkek on Thursday.

The front side of the banknote will be decorated with a portrait of the Kyrgyz renowned actor, writer and sportsman Suimenkul Chokmorov. The banknote will be protected with a water mark and the so-called ‘magic digits’ technology.

New banknotes will be put in circulation since March 2, 2009.
