European Bank of Reconstruction and Development intends to take active part in the construction of Osh-Batken-Isfana road, the EBRD transport department consultant Christopher Uzi said at the meeting with the Batken oblast governor Maratbek Jumabekov.
The bank has issued $35 million for the road construction to start in 2009. The project will reportedly create a well-developed transport infrastructure, crucial for the region. The World Bank was also going to take part in the construction sponsorship with $20 million.
Successful implementation of a range of transport projects in Batken region will open a road by pass some enclaves of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
