Kyrgyz police rules out the version of death of the Kyrgyz former presidential chief-of-staff being politically motivated. It was reported at the press conference at the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry on Monday, March 16.

According to the chief of the Interior Ministry Moldomusa Kongantiev, the police consider the version of traffic accident. Driver of the Audi, Omurbek Osmonov, which allegedly head-on collided with Lexus carrying three persons, is now arrested and kept in detention center. He was charged with violation of traffic rules, entailed death of people and living them in danger. As the Kyrgyz minister informed, Osmonov admitted his guilt.

Assistant chief of the Chui regional Interior Department Kubanychbek Kultaev informed that Audi ran into the left side of the jeep, as the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The both cars caught fire and burned down completely. “There is no doubt that it was an accident,” Kultaev said.

According to the Chief Medical Assessor of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry Tabyldy Matsakov, the driver was not drunk and took no drugs, when jeep passengers were sober as well.

Moldomusa Kongantiev called not to look for political background in the accident. He reminded that there were over a dozen of car burning accidents for the past couple years in Kyrgyzstan.
