Representatives of Turkmen diaspora living in the Russian Federation, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will participate in the 2nd International Festival of World Turkmens titled "Turkmenistan - country of transformations". The festival will be held in Ak Bugdai district of Akhal province from 1 to 4 April.
An impromptu Turkmen village will be set up in the open. Music performances reflecting a diversity of folklore traditions of all regions of Turkmenistan as well as national sports competitions and various contests will be held in this village. Turkmen carpet weavers, embroiderers, jewelers and artisan will also display their works. Guests will be treated to the national cuisine.
The festival is organized by the Humanitarian Association of World Turkmen, the Ministry of Culture, TV and Radio of Turkmenistan and administration of Akhal province. The main goal of the festival is to preserve and popularize the national cultural heritage of Turkmens.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conveyed a welcome message to the forum participants. He expressed confidence that in the era of new Revival the international festival will "further solidify the five thousand year history of inviolable unity, consolidation and integrity of Turkmen who made a worthy contribution to the development of culture and science common to all mankind."
Today, the national values and traditions of Turkmen people based on the common human principles of spirituality, humanity, purity of thoughts and healthy morals "deserve admiration and pride and world recognition," the president noted.
