A memorandum on long-term cooperation between the government of Turkmenistan and German energy concern RWE was signed at the official residence of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in Ashgabat on 16 April.
The document envisions interaction on a number of issues in the energy sphere. In particular, the German company will provide assistance in training Turkmen specialists in the leading scientific-educational centers of Germany as well as technical know-how for the energy sector and gas industry of Turkmenistan.
RWE also plans to take part in exploration and production operations on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea, specifically at Block 23. The sides will also start negotiations on a long-term contract for Turkmen natural gas sale at the border of Turkmenistan and transportation of gas to the world energy markets.
The memorandum was signed following a meeting between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Juergen Grossman, CEO of RWE AG; Stefan Judisch, CEO of RWE Supply & Trading; as well as Director of EWC East West Connect GmbH & Co.KG company Rudi Lamprecht.
In the end of the ceremony Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov expressed confidence that the memorandum "will become a good prologue for efficient partnership which has great prospects."
